OCEAN 1 is the brainchild of superyacht Captain Dean Maggio. With nearly 30 years of sailing and yachting experience under his belt, Captain Maggio recognized a significant gap in the yacht tender market. While many of the top RHIB models in the yachting industry had admirable qualities, none fully addressed the diverse and demanding needs of a luxury yacht program.
Frustrated by the limitations he encountered, Dean decided it was time to conceptualize his ideal yacht tender and pave the way for the ultimate RHIB. He established a new facility in north Sarasota, where he meticulously selected a skilled crew of craftsmen to bring his vision to life. At this state-of-the-art facility, the production of OCEAN 1 began, focusing on crafting yacht tenders that encapsulate both luxury and functionality.
OCEAN 1 Expansion
In recent years, OCEAN 1 has expanded its offerings to include custom-made Bay Boats and Law Enforcement Patrol Boats, each model tailored to meet specific needs. The addition of these custom-made Bay Boats and Patrol Boats to their model fleet has allowed OCEAN 1 to cater to a broader range of maritime requirements. These custom bay boats are designed with the same attention to detail and quality that define OCEAN 1 yacht tenders, making them ideal for both leisurely pursuits and professional uses.
Furthermore, the Patrol Boats created by OCEAN 1 are engineered for durability, reliability, and efficiency, making them the preferred choice for demanding patrol duties. This recent addition to their model fleet has rapidly gained recognition, earning OCEAN 1 the honor of being the patrol boat of choice for the Sarasota Police Department.
Today, OCEAN 1 yacht tenders, bay boats, and patrol boats are found all over the world, embodying Captain Dean Maggio’s commitment to excellence and innovation in the maritime industry. The Founder of OCEAN 1: Superyacht Captain Dean Maggio
With over 30 years of sailing and yachting experience, Dean Maggio has spent much of his adult life at the helm of some of the world’s most spectacular superyachts. Growing up on a boat in Biscayne Bay laid a strong foundation for his thrilling career on the water. After graduating from Maine Maritime Academy with an unlimited merchant marine license, Dean embarked on a lifelong adventure in maritime pursuits.
Over the past three decades, Dean has excelled professionally by racing world-class sailing yachts and captaining a series of highly successful charter yachts. Notably, for more than a decade, he has served as the captain of the 170-foot schooner Meteor. Dean was initially the “build” captain for Meteor from its inception in 2005, meticulously overseeing every aspect of the Dutch-built vessel until its launch in 2007. These experiences have provided him with the expertise and insight necessary to design and build the perfect custom yacht tenders, bay boats, and law enforcement patrol boats. His hands-on knowledge ensures that each vessel meets the highest standards of quality, performance, and luxury.
